PORT PHILLIP BAY (THE WESTERN COAST)
The western coast starts at Frankston and stretches all the way down the Point Nepean. It is typical of long powder-soft beaches and posh holiday resorts, peaking at the fabulous Sorrento – named after the famous Italian holiday hub; indeed the resort features pretty posh seaside vibes. Yacht clubs, golf courses, restaurants, spas and retreats, and well-dressed people can be seen throughout the town.
The calm waters of Port Phillip Bay offer ideal conditions for water sports, including paddle boarding, sea kayaking, swimming, snorkelling, fishing to boating and yachting. Frankston and Mornington are the biggest towns with great entertainment options, shopping, dining, various tours and recreation.
Mount Eliza, Mount Martha, Dromana, Rosebud, Sorrento and Portsea are small seaside resorts covered with holiday homes and penthouses, and the famed Mornington Bathing Boxes at the Mills Beach cannot be overlooked.
